Camp Moo Gung Hwa hosts an annual Children’s Day Event. We provide a traditional Korean meal, a chance for children
two and under to dress in hanboks and celebrate their “first birthday,” and a small craft for the older children. It’s a wonderful event and a chance to families get together and catch up, review plans for the upcoming camp (even if your child won’t be attending Camp for another year or two), meet new arrivals in the area, and let children reconnect.
Children’s Day is an important traditional Korean celebration and highlights the dignity of children and their need for love, care, and respect. It is also a day to honor adults who have contributed to improving the lives of children.
We typically hold this the 1st or 2nd weekend of May, from 3pm-5pm. Specific dates for each year are posted on our home page...
“Children are the future of our nation. Let’s show respect for children. Children who grow up with ridicule and contempt from others will become people who disrespect others, while children who grow up with respect from others will become people who respect others in turn.” — Pang Chong-hwan, founder of Korean Children’s Day
